SAInt License Errors Terminate Simulation

Hello,

I keep running into issues with my full-year PCM simulations crashing partway through due to what seems to be a license error. The simulation crashes in a different spot each time (it’s ranged anywhere from 3% completion to 98% completion).
When the error happens, I’ll usually see one of two things:

  1. Windows will raise a dialog box asking me if I’d like to allow CodeMeter Control Center to make changes to my device.
  2. CodeMeter will raise a dialog box telling me that no active license was found.

I checked out the “Events” in CodeMeter’s “Diagnosis” tab in the online dashboard for my license after one of the crashes and found a traceback, pasted below.

I realize this may not be an issue with SAInt, and moreso with the license management software, but I’m wondering if there are any methods for handling this error such that I don’t lose the progress of my simulation.

Thanks,
Rob

Dropping a note here for others who may run into the same issue:

I had been restarting my simulation when these errors popped up, but I found that if I caught it soon enough then clicking “Retry” on the CodeMeter dialog box would allow my simulation to keep running. If I didn’t catch it in time, then the scenario solution would fail.

Hi @rob.stallman,

I’m sorry to hear that CodeMeter is causing some issues for your workflow! You’re not alone - users with cloud licenses have been reporting similar issues. The encoord team has since learned that CodeMeter v7.6, which is the version installed with the latest public release of the SAInt (v3.6.7.6), is the likely source of the licensing issues you’re experiencing. Another potential cause is that the executable run by CodeMeter to perform the license check process is being flagged by your anti-virus scanner.

The encoord team proposes the two following solution steps, with step 2 being necessary only if step 1 does not resolve your issue:

1) Update CodeMeter to the latest v8.3 - This version be found at the Wibu support website: User Software - Wibu-Systems. Please download the latest version, and install on your machine. You can easily verify the current version by opening the CodeMeter Control Center, and navigating to Help > About.

2) Add CodeMeter.exe as an acceptable executable - this should prevent your virus scanner from flagging the license check process and holding it up.

Hopefully, these fix your issue! But if not, please let us know.

Cheers,

  • Wallace
